In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month I wanted to share a scene between two friends.

Emily was afraid of the expression on her own face. Was it appropriate? She was sitting with Christie, one of her closest and oldest friends, and she suddenly felt awkward.

Christie had just told her that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and Emily just stared at her. She knew that she must not have heard her correctly. Christie was only 32 years old. She was in much better shape than Emily. She could not be sick.
